45-70 Gov't Serial # 187624* Indian Wars US Springfield Model 1884 Trapdoor carbine with Star marked serial number Mfd 1882. "C" marked Buffington adjustable carbine sight. Thick wrist stock with tarces of SWP 1887 cartouche. Steel butt plate with trap for cleaning rod and tool. Dark brown overall patina with dark bore with visible rifling. much conjecture over the meaning of the Starr marked serial number exist. Stock is very good , full sized and has evidence of older repair at wrist. Mechanically fine and saddle ring is absent. Barrel 22" no4473
